Finance Manager – Kenya

We are seeking an experienced and qualified Finance Manager to oversee the accounting and finance functions of our manufacturing operations in Kenya. The ideal candidate will be a Chartered Accountant (CA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), or hold an ACCA qualification, with a minimum of 10 years of experience in finance management, specifically within the manufacturing sector. The successful candidate should demonstrate the ability to manage accounting and finance functions independently, ensuring compliance with local regulations and driving financial performance.

Responsibilities:

  1. Financial Planning and Analysis: Develop and oversee the implementation of financial plans, budgets, and forecasts to support the strategic objectives of the organization.
  2. Financial Reporting: Prepare and review accurate and timely financial statements, management reports, and variance analysis, ensuring compliance with local regulations and international accounting standards.
  3. Cost Management: Monitor and analyze manufacturing costs, including raw materials, labor, and overhead expenses, identifying cost-saving opportunities and improving cost efficiency.
  4. Inventory Management: Implement robust inventory control procedures, optimize inventory levels, and ensure accurate valuation of inventory in accordance with accounting principles.
  5. Cash Flow Management: Manage cash flow, working capital, and liquidity to support operational needs and investment requirements, optimizing cash utilization and minimizing financing costs.
  6. Tax Compliance: Ensure compliance with all tax laws, regulations, and filing requirements, including corporate income tax, VAT, and withholding tax, liaising with tax authorities as necessary.
  7. Internal Controls: Establish and maintain effective internal control procedures and policies to safeguard company assets, prevent fraud, and ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data.
  8. Financial Systems and Processes: Review and enhance financial systems, processes, and policies to streamline operations, improve efficiency, and enhance reporting capabilities.
  9. Team Leadership: Lead and develop the finance team, providing guidance, training, and support to enhance skills and capabilities, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.
  10. Strategic Decision Support: Provide financial insights, analysis, and recommendations to senior management to support strategic decision-making, investment evaluation, and business planning initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Chartered Accountant (CA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), or ACCA qualification required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in finance management, with a focus on manufacturing operations.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and taxation regulations in Kenya.
  • Experience in cost accounting, inventory management, and manufacturing cost analysis.
  • Proficiency in financial planning and analysis, budgeting, and cash flow management.
  • Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and ERP systems, with the ability to leverage technology to drive process improvements.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.
